玉湖社区在汕头市龙湖区金霞街道境内，地处龙湖区中心，位于原龙湖村的中央部分，被社区简介称为“城中村”[1]。社区由龙湖村划出，名称取“碧玉生辉”的“玉”字与“湖”字相合[1]。2019年9月，它列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

因1989年为设特区而征地、村民农转非，原龙湖村分成三个居委会，玉湖居委会在1990年3月5日获准设立[1]。其后的归属变化与春湖、碧湖相同：1992年7月归龙湖街道，2001年并入金霞街道，2002年定名玉湖社区居民委员会[2]。
