历史沿革[edit]
地名的来历有两种说法。博雅地名网称，唐、宋、明、清时官府指定在此煮盐，设有三座大灶台，起初叫“灶背”；百度百科则称，明代建村时因海边贝壳多，村民筑灶烧制贝壳灰，初名“灶贝”，后按同音改作“造贝”。[2][1]
1949年至1953年称造贝初级社，1954年至1957年称造贝高级社。1958年至1984年的造贝大队隶属前山公社，下辖福石、南沙湾两村。1985年至1986年改称造贝乡，1987年至2001年为造贝村委会，2001年起称居委会。[2]
地理环境[edit]
社区东面是莲塘村，南面是福石村，西面是南沙湾村，北面和中山市坦洲镇的十四村交界。[1]
经济[edit]
1980年代耕地陆续被征用，经济转向工业和商业。[1] 社区内有造贝股份合作公司的工业区，2024年造贝商业街完成升级。[1]
