村子坐落在山坳（垇）里，据地名资料，旧时有一位富人在此办了一所学堂，供本村和邻村的孩子读书，村名由此而来。[1]

经济[edit]

在长江镇的扶贫工作中，学堂垇村党支部总结出「四联四带」的党建促扶贫工作法，后在全镇推广；村里有党员通过土地流转种植柑橘，带动7户贫困户。[2]

县政府网站的长江镇介绍记，学堂垇村的搭撩水自然村道已完成硬底化。[3]
