新市街道是广州市白云区西南部的一个街道，下辖14个社区，办事处设在新达路89号一楼。2020年末常住人口110563人[1]，东至机场路、西至石槎路之间[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

清代，此地归南海县金利司金利都管；民国时划入广州市。新中国成立之初（1949年）隶属禺北办事处；1958年在人民公社化中成为三元里公社的一部分；1986年公社撤销，改设新市镇；1987年起由白云区管辖[2]。2000年6月，由原新景街改称的新市街挂牌设立，2003年6月起称新市街道[1][2]。名称来自辖区内的新市圩[2]。

地理环境[edit]

街道在白云区的西南部，东面是云城街道，西面是石井街道，南面是棠景街道，北面接黄石街道和白云湖街道，面积约3.88平方千米[1]。辖区四至为：北到黄石西路，南到三元里大道北，东到机场路，西到石槎路[2]。辖区有机场路、黄石西路、白云二线、机场高速和地铁8号线穿过；广州白云站已建成启用，地铁12号线、14号线及8号线北延段支线也将在辖区设站[2]。

人口民族[edit]

据街道介绍，户籍居民3万多人，外来流动人口超过9万[2]。按第七次全国人口普查，常住人口11.06万人，人口数在白云区各街镇中排第20位[2]。

经济[edit]

据2017年的统计，街道服务业产值41.93亿元，较上年增长38.10%，租赁和商务服务业占其中4.81亿元；财政收入为1.12亿元[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

新市葵涌遗址在葵涌龟岗，属夏商时期。1982年曾试掘20平方米，堆积层厚至0.52米，贝壳很多，多为淡水蚬，另有螺和蚶，出土有陶器、石器和动物遗骸[2]。

著名人物[edit]

何玉成（名琳，号琢石），生活在清嘉庆、道光年间，家乡属番禺慕德里司萧岗乡，在今白云区。他1817年中秀才，1831年中举人；年轻时家境贫寒，靠教书谋生，又在乡里办怀清社学，维持地方治安[2]。
