海幢街道在广州市海珠区的西北角，北面隔珠江与越秀、荔湾两区相望，是一处典型的老城区街道，海珠区委、区政府也设在辖区内。街道得名于境内的海幢寺。[1][3]
辖区面积约1.45平方千米，下设14个社区居委会，街道办事处在宝岗路1号。[1][3] 第七次全国人口普查（2020年11月1日零时）时，辖区人口为5.84万人；2011年末的户籍人口是65756人。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年以前，这一带属河南海幢区（河南指珠江以南的海珠岛一带）。新中国成立之初设福场、宝龙两个行政街，1952年9月二者合为南华中街道。1960年南华中与跃龙两街道又合办一个人民公社，称海幢公社，次年8月恢复街道建制，才有了海幢街道之名。[3]
1998年，宝岗街道并入海幢街道，形成今日的辖区。关于月份，百度百科作8月，博雅地名网所载概况作5月，并称合并的是宝岗、海幢、跃龙三街，两处不一致，这里只记年份。[1][2][3]
辖下的社区大多由1961年前后的居委会合并而来。例如寺前社区由寺前、溪峡、漱珠、海幢四个居委会演变，宝玉直社区则在2002年由原宝岗街的五个居委会并成。[3]
地理环境[edit]
街道位于海珠区西北部，东邻滨江街道，南接江南中街道，西与龙凤、南华西两街道相连，北滨珠江。[1] 辖区不大，却是人口稠密的旧城区：博雅地名网记录的人口密度约为每平方千米4万人。[3]
经济[edit]
街道的经济以商业、文化娱乐业为主；据百度百科，2011年的工业总产值为21.12亿元。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
海幢寺是街道得名的由来。其地在南汉时曾建有千秋寺，明末商人郭龙岳在此有花园，光牟、池月两位僧人向园主化缘求地，造起佛堂，依佛经典故定名海幢寺。1666年（康熙五年）动工建大雄宝殿，之后天王殿、藏经阁、塔殿等相继落成，寺名列广州五大丛林。[4][6] 寺中旧有「古寺参云」「珠江夜月」等八处景致，今存大雄宝殿和塔殿，二者在1993年8月被列为广州市文物保护单位。[5] 海幢寺的地址，广州市人民政府网站写作同福中路337号，海珠区人民政府网站写作南华中路188号，两处说法不同。[4][5]
寺址在1928年改作河南公园，1933年易名海幢公园。1963年起寺交公园管理，佛事一度中止，到1993年才获准恢复。[6] 滨江西路230号是首次全国劳动大会的旧址，该会于1922年五一前后在广州召开，由中国劳动组合书记部发起，旧址现为广州市文物保护单位；南华中路231号有潘氏大院，一带曾是十三行商人聚居之处。[3]

著名人物[edit]
溪峡乡即今海幢街一带，曾住过伍秉鉴（1769—1843）、伍德彝（1854—1927，号乙公）两位伍氏族人，另有祖籍顺德的黄廷彪（1818—1882）。[3]
