素社街道是广东省广州市海珠区下辖的街道，位于海珠区中北部，辖区面积约1.1平方千米，办事处设在前进路基立北街。街道得名于素社新村，而“素社”二字，据近年的调研，可追溯到民国时期的一个广东音乐社团。[2][3] 1985年建街，1998年与基立街道合并为现在的素社街道，辖13个社区。[1][2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年以前，这一带归河南的蒙圣公所。此后辗转：1950年1月编入纺织街道，1966年7月改隶滨江街道；直到1985年8月才设素社街道。1998年7月，基立街道与旧素社街道合二为一，即今日的建制。[2]

“素社”的来历，坊间原本说法不一。博雅地名网记有一说：旧时文人在此聚会吃斋，称“素社”。[2] 2025年初，海珠区委宣传部与星海音乐学院合写的调研报告提出另一种判断：素社之名很可能出自广东音乐家易剑泉1931年在广州荔枝湾畔创办的“素社音乐社”。该社1933年迁到河南的“太原别墅”（又称杜易安堂，在今新港街道攀桂社区附近），常有人说“去素社看演出”，久而久之，这座房子和周边新建的住宅区都被叫作素社。1934年的一份市政文件里已有“素社合作住宅区”的字样，后来出现了素社直街、素社新村等地名。[3]

2005年前后，兰亭颖园居委会并入稔岗居委会，银珠居委会并入桥东居委会。到2021年10月底，下辖社区共13个。[1][2][4]

地理环境[edit]

街道在海珠区中北部，东面隔河涌与新港街道相望，南面与江南中街道相接，西面和北面则是滨江街道。[1]

人口民族[edit]

2011年末，街道有户籍人口50911人。[1] 第七次全国人口普查（2020年）的结果为6.89万人，在海珠区各街道中排第15位。[2]

经济[edit]

据统计，2011年辖区限额以上批发零售业销售商品总额51.22亿元，同比增长五成八。[1]

文化[edit]

辖区内的社区，名称多取自街巷、小区或旧村：如蟠龙社区因街巷弯曲而得名，郭墩社区源自郭姓聚居的土墩村，稔岗社区则得名于山岗上的桃金娘（岗稔）。[2]
