草芳社区在广州市海珠区滨江街道，以所处的草芳围地段命名。[1] 2001年8月，原滨江街道的第十五、第十六居委会、海岸居委会的一部分、海运居委会的一部分，连同原纺织街道的一个居委会合并，成立草芳居委会；2002年5月，滨江街道的第十四居委会随后并入。[1] 2025年11月，草芳社区列入「广东省未来社区（完整社区）建设试点」。[1]
