王圣堂社区在广州市越秀区矿泉街道，前身是王圣堂村，据说明代已建村，村民以何姓为主。[1][3]村名相传由「黄鳝塘」改来。[2][3]2021年社区有4000户、1.1万多名常住居民，其中九成以上是外来人口。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

村旁的水塘出产黄鳝，村子原叫黄鳝塘。改名一事有两种传说：一说村东兵营里的将军嫌名字不雅，改作「黄胜堂」，后来讹为王圣堂；一说乾隆帝南巡路过，认为名字不雅，亲笔赐名。这些传说都无从考证。[2][3]三元里人民公社时期（1958至1986年），村子属瑶台大队；王圣堂居委会设于1982年；2005年8月起，这里归越秀区矿泉街道。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

村里九成以上的人姓何，分绎思堂何氏和马市岭何氏两支。[2][3]据维基百科，绎思堂何氏的先祖何云腾约在15世纪中叶带族人从番禺大石迁来，至今传了24代；村中老人则说何氏在此已有约550年，先祖经南雄珠玑巷迁来。[2][3]

名胜古迹[edit]

何氏大宗祠在王圣堂大街，是村里仅有的一座宗祠，为纪念始祖何云腾而建，两进，大约建于明末清初。1996年动工重修，次年完成，占地430平方米，重修后外观改成客家风格。[2]祠堂在新中国成立前曾用作养正学校的课室，后来办过幼儿园，1986年起成为老人活动中心。村民添丁后在祠内挂灯笼和龙眼叶的习俗保留至今。[2]

文化[edit]

每年农历正月十七前后举办祠堂庙会。2025年2月14日，王圣堂村狮队与受邀的10条村的狮队在何氏大宗祠前表演醒狮两个多小时，晚上设祠堂宴。[4]

经济[edit]

王圣堂是瑶台片区城中村改造的试点。[5]2021年起，三村的改造方案经表决通过；2024年，一期工程首开区动工。[5][6]
