西阳村位于福鼎市西部，地处福鼎、柘荣、泰顺三县市交界处，距管阳集镇12公里，距福鼎市区40公里。博雅地名网称它是管阳镇里片12个行政村的中心村。[1]

地名与人口[edit]

村名的来历是，村前是平地，东面一座山形似狮，故称狮洋；因方言中「狮」与「西」音近，便写成西阳。[1]

博雅地名网载，村中有17个自然村，户籍1016户、3568人，常住人口7000多人，以关姓为主。户籍数字未注明年份。[1][2]

墟市[edit]

1984年，当地借福鼎县扶持边境贸易的政策，在村中开办边贸墟市，每月农历逢「二」（初二、十二、廿二）赶墟，工商与税务部门给予过免收管理费等优惠。墟市延续至今，经营的商品包括土特产、服装、日用百货、农具、水果与禽类等。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年起为西阳生产大队，1982年改为西阳乡，1987年以后设有西阳村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年12月，西阳村列入「第一批国家森林乡村」。省爱卫办于2021年11月授牌，西阳村成为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2022年3月，村庄被命名为「2021年福鼎市平安村（社区）」。[1]
