元潭村位于管阳镇西南部，管阳溪、西阳溪与西昆溪在村的中部汇合，形成一个深潭。村名传自潭中有一只大鼋的传说，古时写作「鼋潭」，后简写为元潭。[1][2]

博雅地名网载，村域面积6平方公里，全村有426户、1580多人，辖11个自然村，数字未注明年份。[1]

文化与建筑[edit]

梨坪里自然村有一组清代古民居，由五座古厝组成，多建于清乾隆四十六年。古厝大门以精细雕刻装饰，其中一座门上雕有「神荼」「郁垒」字样。村中另有陈海亮（1908—2007年）的故居。[1]

村中元潭教堂建于1922年，是村内两座基督教堂之一。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年3月，村庄被命名为「2021年福鼎市平安村（社区）」。[1]
