城西社区位于狮城镇西部，因旧称西门外、位于县城西部而得名，地处东洋溪畔马头山下，东与中兴社区为邻，东北与长安社区相接，南与桥南社区接壤。[1][2]

这里于2003年6月设社区，辖西门、西福与商贸三个居民小区，历来是县城的商贸集散地。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区占周墩“八景”中的五景，即银屏峰、狮戏球、印月潭、莲花石和龙爪滩。[2]

周墩“三碓”中的上、中两碓在社区内。中碓在1992年中兴街拓建时被整体拆除，中兴桥西侧如今只剩碓楼坝址；上碓只余厂房和坝址。[2]

境内有清乾隆年间修建的凤凰桥，明宣德四年（1429年）建的瑞龙观，以及妈祖庙等古迹。[2]

西门街内有革命烈士墓。[2]
