芹洋乡在寿宁县西南部，乡政府设于芹洋村。全乡面积88.09平方千米，辖17个行政村。地名据说来自此地从前遍生的野芹菜。1984年由社改乡，乡内留存九岭古道等古迹。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明代此地属政和县的里八、九、十都，清代并入县城南门一带的十都坊，分作一、三、四图。民国初年归平溪区管辖；1928年设九岭乡，乡址在芹洋村。1945年撤区改乡，乡名仍是九岭。[3]

寿宁县人民政府成立后，此地于1949年秋划入托溪一带的第四区，1950年撤去九岭乡，另分出六个小乡。1956年改属芹洋区，1958年一度分设东风、光荣、红专三个公社，1959年并为芹洋公社。1984年改社为乡，当时辖18个行政村。1988年1月，下屏峰村被划出，归新设的下党乡管辖。[3][4]

地理环境[edit]

乡境属洞宫山脉东麓，地势自西北向东南倾斜。最高点九峰堂顶海拔1107.5米，在甲延岔村境内；最低点位于长濑溪边的芹洋村一带，海拔288米。九岭溪自托溪乡流入，经石落、新田下进入牛头山水库，长濑溪是其主要支流。气候为亚热带山地季风型。[1]

人口民族[edit]

截至2011年末，全乡辖区总人口18150人，其中汉族17421人，畬、苗、壮三个少数民族合计75人。截至2019年末，户籍人口为17777人。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

九岭古道始筑于宋代，经过九岭村、官路洋村与山头村的地界，原是政和县城通往大安乡官台山银矿的驿道，也是寿宁县历史最久的官道。2020年11月19日，省政府将其列入第十批省级文物保护单位，古道全长约5440米。[5]

乡内的自然景观包括旗山、九峰堂顶、合潭、狮子岩以及牛头山水库的淹没区。阜莽村的千年古樟树，被当地人奉为神树。[1]
