竹坪村位于清源镇南部，离镇政府驻地约7公里，是清源镇矮山片区的中心村。村辖6个自然村，村中以胡姓居多。烈士胡天亮是竹坪村人，第二次国内革命战争期间，他带领本村与符家垱等地设立了村苏维埃政权。[1][2]

村内公路总长11公里，各自然村之间都已硬化，村道也是前往符家垱村的必经之路。全村山地面积大，生态林占多数。[2]
