北斗村是盐田畲族乡下辖的行政村，与西胜、官岭尾、钓岐、杨梅岭等村相邻。[1]

村位于新围的海塘边，故名。1949年前村民为渔民，水上连家船，称水上保；1949年后陆续迁上陆地建村，称北斗大队，1958年设北斗生产大队，1984年改为北斗村。[1]

2025年11月，北斗村以海蛎为主要产业，获认定为「福建省2025年度省级一村一品专业村」；2021年11月，被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
