西胜村位于霞浦县西北部，与福安市交界，距县城约41千米，海拔485米，村域面积26.5平方千米，辖21个自然村。[1][2]
村名因村内有西胜寺而得名。村为老区基点村，1934年前后叶飞、曾志等人在此领导土地革命。[1][2]
2021年，中央组织部与财政部把西胜村列为红色美丽村庄试点村，全市仅12个此类试点；2024年2月，西胜村成为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」的创建对象；2025年11月，西胜村获认定为「福建省第二批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
全村以葡萄、茶叶、毛竹等为主要农作物。据乡概况，全村535户、2088人，畲族占大多数，有1712人，未注统计时间。[2]
