桃溪镇位于武平县北部，距县城44公里，地处武北四镇的中心位置。镇境内的桃澜河流经小澜村后注入汀江，是武平县内的第二大河。茶叶是镇内的主要产业之一，“武平绿茶”的主产地之一。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

镇名的来历，据博雅地名网所载：清光绪年间，刑部主事刘光第（后为「戊戌六君子」之一）回祖籍寻根，称此地有“仙桃石洞”之美，此地遂有“桃溪”“桃地”之称，后定名桃溪。[1]

此地宋代归永宁乡，明代归大湘亭里。1931年以后设有桃溪区和桃溪乡，苏维埃时期归桃澜区管辖。新中国成立初期辖属数度变动，先后隶属第十一区、桃澜区、武北区，中间设有小澜乡，之后改设公社。1984年复设桃溪乡，1996年撤乡建镇。[2]

地理环境[edit]

镇域面积179平方千米，气候类型为中亚热带海洋性季风。镇境海拔高低相差较大，最高处1123米，最低处245米，这样的气候与土质适合茶树生长。矿产以萤石、石英石为主。[2]

经济[edit]

“武平绿茶”是镇内的主要茶叶品牌，2009年注册为地标性商标。镇民中有不少人外出经营不锈钢的生产、加工和装潢，行业遍布国内大中城市，部分人在广东佛山投资兴办不锈钢企业。[2]

文化[edit]

「福建名茶之乡」（2017年2月，福建省茶叶协会命名）与「中国特色炒绿之乡」（2020年5月，海峡两岸茶叶交流协会命名）两项称号，都与镇内茶叶生产有关。同年10月，镇被列为省级农贸型商务特色镇；11月，农业农村部把镇认定为「全国一村一品示范村镇」（绿茶）。[2]

2020年，桃溪镇被评为省级文明乡镇；2021年2月，镇内上榜「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内有一批革命旧址，均为武平县县级文物保护单位。列入第八批的有「小澜暴动队伍集结地旧址——伯公下祠堂」「小澜暴动队伍集结地旧址——蒲竹凹悦旅亭」「传经第」「红四军第三纵队驻地旧址、县苏维埃旧址——三苟居」「红十二军36师政治部驻地旧址、乡苏维埃旧址——春园别墅」「中共武平县委机关旧址——宝善居」；列入第九批的有「蓝文兆将军故居（霈霞居）」。[3]

其中小澜暴动是1929年12月5日发生在小澜村的一次农民武装暴动，小澜村的党组织也始建于同一年，有关的集结地旧址至今保存。[4]

著名人物[edit]

1964年晋升少将军衔的蓝文兆（1919年—2001年）是镇内人，故乡在新贡村。[1][5]
