城西社区位于上杭县城西门外的郊区，名称因此而来。[1]

社区于2002年7月由村改为居委会建制，其前身城西村在解放初已设立。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时此地属通驷保，1949年解放初属附城区城西村，1952年改属城西乡。1955年和1956年间先后设初级社与高级社，1957年冬撤区并乡后归城郊乡。[2]

1958年公社化后隶属城郊公社，1960年合入城关公社，次年10月又分出，成为城郊公社的城西大队。1980年改由管委会管理，1984年起为城郊乡下属村。1993年归临城镇，称城西村民委员会，2002年7月改设城西社区居民委员会。[2]

文化[edit]

2021年2月，城西社区入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2021年11月，被省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
