草坪村地处汀州古城北角，在腾飞经济开发区范围内，距长汀火车站约3公里，北面以莲花水库为邻。[1]

开基时这里杂草丛生而地势平坦，因此得名草坪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初设草坪乡，属第二区（大同区）。1957年撤区并乡后归并他乡，1958年公社化时设草坪大队，1984年改设草坪村民委员会。[1]

2004年以来，村里有千余亩土地被征用建设厂房，村庄因此形成城乡结合的格局。[2]

文化[edit]

2023年1月，草坪村被命名为2022年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」。[1]
