南江村位于湖坑镇南部，地处永定与漳州市平和县交界处，居南溪「土楼沟」景观的中心，是闽西的革命基点村。2026年1月，村子获评福建省乡村振兴示范村（2026年度）。[1]

据区政府网站所载，村子先后获得六项「国家级」荣誉，其中有传统村落、宜居示范村和生态文化村等称号。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历是：村子在南溪的南侧，溪流宽阔如江，故名南江。[1]

1949年前属南溪乡的南溪保，之后至1952年仍由南溪乡政府管辖。1958至1960年人民公社化期间属南溪管理区，1961年分公社后改称南江大队。1984年成为湖坑乡的南江村委会，1993年撤乡设镇后称湖坑镇南江村委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村里也以土楼生态旅游为发展方向，据博雅地名网，村子的旅游开发以打造客家文化特色的土楼生态精品村为目标。[1][3]
