牛眠石村是小池镇东北部的行政村，北靠上杭县，东连江山乡与龙门镇，距镇政府约6公里。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村前有一块石头形似安眠的牛，村名由此而来。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域内以林地为主，地形地貌较为复杂，村庄建设用地集中在村域西南侧。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年1月，牛眠石村被命名为2020年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」；2023年1月，被命名为2022年度同一称号。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前此地属小池乡，1957年撤区并乡后仍在小池乡之内。1958年组成牛眠石大队，归小池公社管辖，1984年设牛眠石村委会。[1]
