万安镇在新罗区西北部，地处梅花山南麓，林地面积大，森林覆盖率高，竹木与农特产品是主要的生计。[1]

镇内以竹贯古村落与梅花湖两处景点较为集中，竹贯村是其中的主要村落。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

唐天宝元年（742年）地名整顿时，新罗县改名龙岩县，本地当时属九龙乡的万安里。据镇政府网站，“万安”之名由朝廷统一命名。旧称高州的这一带，在唐初平定南方蛮獠之乱、设立漳州时起过战略作用，故有“先有高州，后有漳州”之说；朝廷因此赐名万安，取万里民安之意。[1]

明代这里属九龙乡万安里，溪口一带设有驿站官员。到清代雍正年间，溪口设起县丞衙门（1731年），后又改为州同衙门。1735年龙岩由县改州，溪口随之设分州，由州同驻守。[2][4]

1913年万安一度降为县佐驻地，1929年后又改设为乡；1933年成立万安区，次年列为第八区。[4]

1957年撤区并乡，划为溪口、梅村、松洋3乡；1965年并为万安公社，1984年又改称万安乡。1996年，万安乡撤销后改为镇，即今之万安镇（镇政府网站所载）；博雅地名网记为1995年底设镇。[1][4]

地理环境[edit]

镇域北面与连城县赖源相连，西面与上杭县古田一带接界，距新罗区中心城区约63公里。[1]

镇域面积392平方千米，林地约48万亩，其中毛竹林约13万亩，森林覆盖率为85.39%。[1]

已探明的矿产有石灰石、铁、硅石、稀土和铅锌等。梅花湖是梅花山南麓的一处水库，库区水面约7.9平方公里，被列为国家级水利风景区。[1][3]

人口与经济[edit]

常住人口约5900人，户籍人口约1.2万人，均据镇政府网站，未注统计年份。[1]

镇内主要农特产品有风鸭、笋干、万安大冬米、红菇、红曲酒、土鸡、河湖鱼、黄殿菇和高山蔬菜。[1]

文化遗产[edit]

镇内的非物质文化遗产有背新娘的婚俗、纸竹帘编织手艺和剪纸花灯。[1]

竹贯村内的温氏家庙、观音庵、水尾古建筑群等古迹，详见竹贯村条。[2]

著名人物[edit]

杨世宁（1906～1927），又名德怀，龙岩溪口人，早年进入集美学校师范部读书，后接触马列主义。[2]
