赤坑村位于西陂街道西北部，与江山镇相邻[1]。村名的来历：过去村中木材、毛竹较多，又有山坑，因而得名赤坑[1]。村子由石前坑和赤坑两个自然村组成，其中石前坑曾是革命基点村[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

明代，这里属铁石乡在坊里，为城北郊的赤坑聚落。清代时称柴坑，归铜江管辖；民国改称赤坑保，解放初设赤坑村，隶属江山区岭南乡[1]。1957年撤区并乡后归西陂乡，1958年以西陂大队之名列入编制，1984年设赤坑村委会[1]。
