南城街道位于福建省龙岩市新罗区，在龙岩中心城区的东南部，因在龙川（龙津河）南岸而得名。[1]

辖区内有一处龙岩洞摩崖石刻，已列为省级文物。[4][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明代这片地方归铁石乡在坊里所辖；清代至民国初年，属溪南坊南门之外。[2] 1929年7月起至1930年11月24日止，以及1932年4月10日至10月17日之间，此地归城区第五乡苏维埃政府管辖。[2] 1933年划为大同乡，次年改属第一区；1941年12月起称大白乡，1944年11月后划归新罗镇。[2]

新中国成立后，1949年11月划入附城区，当时设溪南、大同两村。1956年并入城关镇，1958年改属城关公社，1968年重归城关镇，1982年才立南城街道。[2]

地理环境[edit]

街道位于龙岩中心城区东南部，辖区面积约11.68平方千米。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

2005年，这处石刻被列为福建省文物保护单位。[4][3] 博雅地名网称它位于后盂社区的麒麟山，维基百科则说在城东翠屏山，两种说法所指都在街道之内。[4][3]

洞内石壁上的题刻中，最受注意的是明景泰二年（1451年）王源所刻的《龙岩记》，文中叙述龙岩洞的位置与风貌；博雅地名网称王源时任潮州知府。[4][3] 洞内明清石刻的数目，博雅地名网作二十余处，维基百科作十余处。[4][3]

荣誉[edit]

2023年1月，街道获评2022年度龙岩市「平安乡镇（街道）」称号。[1]
