地名[edit]
村因位于梅溪下游而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村落的始建年代可上溯至隋代，宋时出现里坊格局，清代市街最为繁盛。[1] 清康熙、乾隆年间，此地曾是武夷山茶叶的集散市场。[1]
清康熙年间，邹氏族人自江西南丰迁入。据快懂百科载，公元1694年邹元老带儿子入闽，来到本村择居创业。[1] 邹氏凭借与晋商合作经营武夷茶叶而致富，建成邹氏家祠等一批宅第。[1]
文物古迹[edit]
村内保留清代古民居三十余幢，集砖雕、石雕、木雕于一体，这些古民居属于武夷山文化遗产的组成部分。[1] 其中邹氏家祠位于村落中心，是村中的标志性建筑。[1]
名村与传统村落[edit]
2005年9月16日，下梅村获国家文物局、建设部批准，成为中国历史文化名村。[1]
第一批中国传统村落名单公布于2012年12月，下梅村在其中。[2]
