忠信村位于忠信镇的中心区，村名与镇名相同。村址原为大河滩，荆棘丛生，先民来此开辟居所，当时称作「黄荆蓬」。[1]

地名由来[edit]

吴广一是宋代的京官，为人忠厚诚信，处事平稳，乡人便以平川称呼此地。后来他获赐匾额「平川之地有忠信」，此地由是改名忠信。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋至清，村地隶属忠信里，民国归忠信乡管辖。1950年代初先后划入第九区与第十区，1956年改入仙阳区。1958年并入忠信公社，立为生产大队。1967年忠和大队的地域并入本村，1977年这片地域又另设良种场。1984年起改为村民委员会建制，1993年划归忠信镇。[1]

2021年十一月，省级爱卫部门将本村认定为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]

文化[edit]

村内保留着明清时期的古民居。黄处祠堂与朱处祠堂的木雕、石雕和砖雕工艺，被称为「三雕」。[2]
