前坑村是南山镇下辖的行政村。村名取「前表方位」之意，「坑」指山涧凹处。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的解释见于《南平市志·地名志》（1993年）所引：「前」表方位，「坑」即山涧凹坑。此地在明洪武元年（1368年）属普安里，清代沿袭。民国时期先后归大凤镇与凤山镇管辖，名为前坑保。[1]

1949年，此地属第二区龙湾乡，改称前坑村；1958年称前坑大队，1984年改为前坑村村民委员会，1992年归南山镇。[1]
