石东村位于秀篆镇东部的山区，离镇区约12公里，与乾东村、注湖村相接。村中曾有多位老红军、游击队员。[1]

地名由来[edit]

1958年成立大队时，取「石下」与「东坑尾」两处地名各一字命名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年此地属第六区隔石乡，1951年改属第七区隔石乡，1952年至1954年属第九区隔石乡，其后分出隔背、石东两乡。1955年设秀篆区石东乡。[1]

1958年9月属和平人民公社石东管理区，1959年改属秀篆公社石东大队，1961年改属秀篆区寨河公社石东大队，1964年复为秀篆公社石东大队。1984年10月改设秀篆乡石东村，1992年3月改为秀篆镇石东村。[1]

革命历史[edit]

石东一带属饶和埔革命根据地的范围，当年培养出一批老红军、游击队员和接头户等人员。[1]

台湾渊源[edit]

1990年6月，台湾邱氏宗亲一行到石东村寻根谒祖。[2]
