石城村是梅岭镇下辖的行政村，位于镇政府驻地北部。村子东邻峰岐村，西边与西山农场接壤，北边连着桥东镇的牙头，南边是高坑村。全村辖石城、下崎两个自然村，村委会驻石城。[1]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

驻地位于石城自然村，村名由此而来。民国时属梅中乡；中华人民共和国成立后先属第一、第三区石中乡，其后，1955年改隶桥东区石中乡，此后，1956年5月改属四都区傅厝乡。[1]

1958年归东方红人民公社高坑管理区，接着，1961年5月为桥东区下河公社石城大队，其后，1964年改属桥东公社，此后，1978年复归下河公社，接着，1982年属梅岭公社。其后，1984年10月起由梅岭乡的石城村委会管理，此后，1991年起称现名。[1]

自然环境与生计[edit]

村子地处沿海平原，黄姓为主，庄姓杂居，聚落呈长方形。村民讲闽南话，分为5个村民小组，全村276户、1154人。耕地约680亩，山林地500多亩，主种水稻、花生、地瓜与甘蔗。[1][2]

渔业以养殖为主，兼营渔产品加工与销售，有虾池180亩与鱼寮26间。村内原石城小学已并入江夏小学，设医疗室一所。村子通汽车，设停靠站。[1]
