建制变迁[edit]
清乾隆二十七年（1762年）前后，本地划在海澄县城外北路的恒泥保之下。民国年间先后归海澄县的山后乡与富有乡。[2]
新中国成立初期，这里属海澄县城关区的下楼乡。1958年9月改设黎明公社下楼耕作区，次年2月又改隶莲花公社。[2]
1960年起为紫泥公社的下楼大队，1984年建乡后称紫泥乡下楼村，1992年撤乡建镇，改称紫泥镇下楼村。[2]
姓氏与宗祠[edit]
下楼社以黄、刘两姓为主。刘氏始祖是海澄内楼刘大杞的三世孙刘德荣。黄氏远祖出自河南固始，1205年入闽，入闽始祖为黄天从。[2]
村中许氏家庙建于清雍正丁未年（1727年），1992年修葺。刘氏祠堂德馨堂建于明代，1997年整修。黄、江、庄、郭、张、高、吴等姓也各有祠堂。[2]
宫庙[edit]
村中庙宇不少：东兴宫供观世音菩萨，天后宫供妈祖，中兴宫供保生大帝，梅兴宫、镇安宫与后兴宫供玄天上帝，圣者宫则设在渡口码头。[2]
经济[edit]
村内耕地以水田为主，春季种水稻，冬季种蔬菜。渔船到厦门附近海域捕捞，养殖的品种有对虾、海蛏、青蟹等。[2]
村内有胜海造船有限公司，博雅地名网称其为闽南最大的民营造船企业之一。村中还有造纸、食品加工、机砖和育苗等企业。[2]
