西院社区隶属福建省漳州市芗城区芝山街道，位于街道驻地东南，南面临近九龙江。社区名称由1962年并村时两个自然村各取一字而来。2020年6月3日，西院村改设为西院社区居民委员会。2024年1月，社区被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

1962年，两个自然村并为一个村，各取首字组成村名，即“西院”。村改社区后，名称沿用不变。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

文革期间，此村一度改称红旗村，文革结束后又复称西院村。2020年6月3日，此地改设为西院社区居民委员会。[1]
