钱塘村位于诗山镇西部，地处峡谷中形成的盆地，东与社二村相接，北与鳌峰村、联星村相连。村名据传源于村中七口铜钱池塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据传明朝末年，村民为求富裕，在村中挖出七个池塘，塘中埋入铜钱，寓意钱从塘中出，村因此得名。[1]

钱塘村早先在泉州府南安县的十二都境内。民国时它属蓬华乡的钱塘保，1949年后仍归蓬华乡管辖；公社化的1958年，村子设为钱塘大队，1984年改为诗山镇钱塘村。[1]
