地名由来[edit]
西美村由西宅、美林后两村合并而成，各取一字为村名。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
民国年间属崇仁乡西美保。解放后称西美村，1958年公社化时定名为西美大队；1985年起归美林乡，改设西美村委会；1988年转属美林镇，1999年起改称街道下的西美村委会。[2]
地理环境[edit]
村内有南安六中、西美小学和卫生所。村境通过乡村公路与柳美北路、南金路相连。[2]
