溪美社区是南安市溪美街道下辖的社区，位于南安市政治、文化中心的西北侧，东边紧接市委、市政府大院，北面临西溪，面积约2平方千米。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

社区一带古称“溪仔尾”，因蓝溪与西溪在此汇合，后雅化为今名。[1][3]

据博雅地名网与百度百科，南安县治于1936年迁到此地，街道的资料则多作1937年。[1][3] 1987年由溪美大队析出设村，2003年改为溪美社区居委会。[1][4]

社区原是一个小山村，因地处东西南北水陆交通枢纽，人口逐渐增多。[1]早先居民以种田为生，土地基本被征用后，多转为办民营企业，或在市第二市场做小生意、沿街经商。[2]
