溪美街道位于福建省泉州市南安市中部，是南安市人民政府的驻地[6]，也是全市的政治、文化中心。[1][3] 街道办事处的驻地在溪美社区镇府巷36号，邮编为362300。[5]街道东邻柳城街道，西接东田镇，北隔西溪与美林街道相望。[1]全街道面积65平方千米，2020年常住人口9.92万人。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

街道旧称“溪仔尾”，地处东田兰溪注入西溪的末端。闽南话里“溪尾”与“溪美”同音，于是改称溪美。[3][4]

1937年（民国二十六年）南安县治自丰州迁来此地，这里又被称作“柳城”。[2][4]

设镇的年份，百度百科作1980年由城关公社析出溪美镇，博雅地名网则作1984年撤社设镇。撤镇设街道一事，百度百科作1998年9月1日撤销溪美镇、分设溪美与柳城两个街道，博雅地名网作1999年撤镇设街道。[2][4]

1961年改置城关区，辖溪美、莲塘、象山、榕桥四个公社；1965年撤区，改设城关人民公社。[4]博雅地名网载，2011年4月环境保护部授予街道2011年度「国家级生态乡镇」称号。[4]

地理环境[edit]

街道属亚热带季风气候。[2]

街道境内有西溪和蓝溪两条河流。[3]矿产以花岗岩、高岭土为主，共近十种；植物有一千二百余种，森林覆盖率为41%。[3]

经济[edit]

主要支柱产业有水暖消防、针织鞋业、机械鞋业，另有食品罐头等。[3]
