湖尾村位于英林镇南部沿海，距镇区约4公里。它南面连着沿海大通道，隔海正对金门；西边与沪厝垵村相邻，北边与柯坑村挨着。村名来历：古时胜虺湖向西南延伸的窄长尾部称“湖尾”，村东南有湖，故又名湖美村；水鸟常到湖中嬉戏，又名凫美村。新中国成立后定名湖尾村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明、清时属十一都。1944年（民国33年）为英林镇伍坑保。此后曾隶金井区嘉排乡，并在金井公社里设嘉排大队；1961年改属英林公社湖尾大队，1984年起为英林镇湖尾村委会。[2]

经济[edit]

村中以服装、紫菜和海蛎养殖为主要行业。[2]

文化[edit]

村内小学于2003年始建。村里有湖尾、西湖两个自然村。[2]
