西吴村位于龙湖镇西部，村庄原名栖梧，后谐音改称西吴，下辖旧西吴、新西吴、苏厝三个自然村。[1][2][3]

村名来历与一则传说有关：传说有凤凰栖息在村中的梧桐树上，因此得名栖梧。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

元至正十年（1350年），安海浦边的吴安然奉父亲龙涵之命迁居栖梧，之后繁衍成一族皆吴姓的村落。[3]

明清属十七、十八都，1944年属至善乡屏南保。[2]

1961年设龙湖公社西吴大队，1984年设龙湖镇西吴村委会。[2]

据博雅地名网，明清时期村中曾有5人中过进士。[3]
