内湖村位于内坑镇政府驻地东面约两公里处，黎山村在其西南方向，土垵村与其东侧相接，有简易公路接通内坑至官桥的公路。村名由旧时村前的小湖泊而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
此地原有一座小湖泊，湖中遍生莲荷，故称莲湖。湖畔逐渐形成村落，仍取村名莲湖。因“莲”与“内”在闽南方言中发音相近，久之便谐音讹为内湖。[1]
宋代属开建乡务本里，明清属四都；民国三十三年（1944年）归亲民乡泰昌保管辖。建国后，1956年隶属内坑区内坑乡，1961年起由内坑公社统辖。1984年自原大队分出，成为内湖大队，同年由乡统辖；1992年起由镇统辖。[1]
