洋尾村地处磁灶镇西北一带，与南安市官桥镇以界相隔，正处在梅溪汇集的地方。国道324线横穿村子中部，把村庄分成南北两片[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

村名的由来有两种说法：一说旧时有外国商人来此经商，住在村尾，因此称为「洋尾」；另一说村子所在的一片平原风光秀丽，早先称洋美，后谐音改为洋尾[1]。元朝时，这里属晋江县二都，只有洋尾一个自然村，为谢氏单姓聚居[1]。民国时期隶梅溪乡双洋保；1956年起划归内坑区天亮乡；1961年成立磁灶公社洋尾大队；1984年洋尾村委会成立[1]。

人口民族[edit]

截至2009年，全村有4455人、694户[1]。村中以谢姓为多[2]。

文化[edit]

村内有镇公宫、景主宫和温海爷宫三座庙宇，分别于农历正月初十、八月十五和八月十七祭祀[2]。
