后湖村位于石狮市东北部，村落东西向呈长条状，长1000余米，宽度不到100米。村名与村北旧时的一片湖泊有关。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

相传村北原有一片湖泊，村庄建在湖的南岸，因而得名「后湖」。村人又雅称此地为「瑶湖」。[2]

1980年设后湖大队，1985年改称后湖村委会。[2]

经济[edit]

过去村里的耕地近2200亩，全部是旱地。近年因土地被征用，实际耕种的约近1100亩。[1]

文化[edit]

村里先后获得石狮市文明村的荣誉（2010—2012年度、2013—2015年度、2018—2021年度），还曾获1997—1998年石狮市计划生育工作合格村，以及2009—2010年祥芝镇先进党支部等称号。[1]
