莲中村是蚶江镇下辖的行政村，村址处于蚶江镇的中心地带，石蚶路由村中穿过，辖区面积1.5平方千米。1982年自原大队析出，1984年改称莲中村委会。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代属安仁乡江阴里，元、明、清属二十三都，民国时期分属第四区、石狮区，后归蚶江乡。新中国成立后，1949年归永宁区，1952年改属双湖区，1956年划入莲塘区莲塘乡。[1]

1958年设大队，1982年自原大队析出，1984年改称莲中村委会。村名因地处原大队的中堡而得。[3][1]

人口与村情[edit]

据2025年8月公布的村情信息，全村外来人口300人，海外侨胞300多人，户籍人口1943人；住户530户，村民小组8个，村民代表48人。耕地面积1000亩，村划分为七个片区。[2]

经济[edit]

中小企业有60家。村民的生计主要靠耕作、外出务工，以及办小作坊、经营店面和出租房屋。[2]
