历史沿革[edit]
宋代属安仁乡江阴里，元、明、清属十三都，民国时期分属第四区、石狮区，后归蚶江乡。新中国成立后，1949年归永宁区，1952年改属双湖区，1956年划入莲塘区莲塘乡。[1]
1958年设大队，1982年原大队分出中堡、西堡、东堡三个大队，其中东堡大队于1984年改称莲东。[3]
人口与村情[edit]
据2025年8月公布的村情信息，全村外来人口558人，户籍人口2148人；住户590户，设9个村民小组，村民代表53人。[2]
村民多以打零工、做杂工为生，村中的几家企业多为家庭式服装加工厂。[2]
文化[edit]
清代及民国时期，村民移居台湾的很多，因此村中有挡境信仰「顺正府大王公宫」，其分灵在台湾艋岬。[3]
村内保留有人类学家林惠祥的故居。[3]
荣誉[edit]
村获得的荣誉有「2017年度石狮市交通安全示范村」和「创建无邪教示范村」等。[2]
