南星社区位于县城南部，东接花石社区，西与榜头社区交界，北面隔桃溪与留安社区相望。[1]

社区名称寓意位于桃溪之南，如星星般闪亮。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立后，此地与榜头、留安同属溪安乡，合作化时期共为溪安大队。[3]

体制改革后析出南星大队，1991年改称南星村委会，2005年5月24日改为南星社区居委会。[3]

文化[edit]

2020年9月和2021年10月，南星社区两次列入阿里研究院发布的淘宝村名单，2022年10月再次上榜。[1]

2020年12月，社区获认定为「福建省第一批高级版绿盈乡村」，同月又入选「2019年度福建省一村一品示范村」（乡村旅游）名单。[1]

2021年12月，社区获认定为泉州市2019至2021年度市级「一村一品」专业村（乡村旅游），并获命名「2021年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]

2022年12月，社区被福建省爱国卫生运动委员会命名为2022年福建省卫生社区。[1]
