桃溪社区位于县城中心区域，是桃城镇的经济与文化中心，东与桃东社区相接，北与五里街相交。[1]

社区名称来自地处东北面临水、旧时大面积种植桃树的景观。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

隋代（589年）设桃林场，唐代（822年）仍属南安管辖；五代后唐时（933年）升为桃源县。北宋至清代，此地属迎福里十三都，民国十八年至三十二年间设保。[2]

1949年后，该地先后隶属第四区、第七区与城关区，1958年为桃东乡；1961年并入城关公社，1981年改属城郊公社，1986年划归桃城镇。[2]

1990年设桃溪居委会，2003年11月6日起称桃溪社区居委会。[2]

文化[edit]

近年的荣誉有：2020年9月与2021年10月，社区两次列入阿里研究院发布的淘宝村名单；2022年10月再次上榜。[1]

2021年2月，社区入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
