美西村隶属祥华乡，位于佛耳山麓，在乡政府驻地南约8.8公里处，海拔870米。村子四面高山环抱，中间为小盆地，原名多卿。五代时的开先县令詹敦仁曾在此隐居，村中有灵惠庙与芹案寨遗址。[1][5]

地名由来[edit]

新中国成立前，此地与周边数村同属一个大队，名为美寨大队。拆分时因位于原大队的西侧，改称美西。[2]

村子原名多卿。1949年以前，这里曾是乡政府驻地，取名多卿乡公社。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋时此地属积德乡崇信里第八都，明清属崇信里，民国时属多卿乡美洋保。解放后，它隶属第十四区珊屏辖下的美西乡。1958年，村子编入长坑公社，设美西大队；1965年改隶祥华公社；1984年，成为祥华乡美西村民委员会。[1][3]

1941年，此处改设多卿中心国民学校，至1950年定名美西小学。1995年9月，聪明中学在村内创办。[4]

文物与古迹[edit]

灵惠庙在村内佛耳山麓，前身为詹敦仁的清隐堂，始建于北宋初，庙中崇祀詹敦仁夫妇及其父母子媳。宋咸淳八年（1272年）追封詹敦仁为靖惠侯。1985年，灵惠庙被定为首批「县级文物保护单位」。[1][4][5]

詹敦仁墓也在村内，系宋代古墓葬，为县级文物保护单位。[1]

芹案寨遗址由清道光年间（1821年—1850年）的詹经力（人称詹百万）所筑。平面呈长方形，寨墙厚约3米，占地千余平方米。[4][1]
