玉田馆是一座始建于明代的庙宇，供奉朱、邢、李三王府，香火旺盛，附近一带颇有名气。设村后，村以庙为名，据博雅地名网所述，村名寓意民风淳朴和谐、田园如玉。[1]

村原属城厢公社的一个大队，1982年自原大队析出，独立设村，成立玉田村委会。[1]
