地名由来[edit]
村名以许氏居住之地命名。据传北宋末年，河南洛阳程氏先祖在此开基，此后世代繁衍。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村地地势平坦，土壤肥沃，水源丰富，耕地以水田为多，山坡地有600多亩。一条约3千米长的水泥公路贯穿五个自然村，连接沿海大通道与惠腰公路。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
人民公社化时期村域分为两个大队，1984年改为许厝村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
许厝宝林寺旧址位于村内下湖自然村，寺始建于明洪武年间（1368年至1398年），清康熙、乾隆、光绪年间皆有重修，现存建筑的年代为清。[1]
