赤石村在东岭镇东部，与净峰镇交界[1]。村名来历：古时此地有一块露出地面、颜色发赤的大岩石，故名赤石，后张氏村民迁来定居[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初期这里属东岭区，此后设立赤石大队。1986年先有赤石村公所，1988年以后才改设赤石村委会[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

西梁观音宫旧址在西梁自然村，清代建造，2006年重修。宫坐东北向西南，宫的侧面有东港水渠流过[1]。

文化[edit]

2024年1月，赤石村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」[1]。
