历史沿革[edit]
村名因蔡姓占多数而定。村中另有少数刘、邓两姓居民，据博雅地名网所载，蔡姓约占85%。[1]
据博雅地名网，蔡氏始祖为河南上蔡县的蔡叔度，后裔经莆田、仙游等地迁至本地。[1]
1949至1950年间，蔡厝村与周边数村合设端明乡；土地改革后分出独立的村级建制，此后各自成立大队与村公所。[1]
