埭头社区在城东街道的东南方向，东侧与前头社区相邻，西侧是霞美社区，南边以桃花山为界。[1][2]社区由埭头村改设，面积约2平方千米，下辖3个自然村和1个城中村。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地归三十七都渡头铺管辖，民国时期隶属东洛镇，1950年划入晋江县第三、第四区。[3]1956年改属东星乡，1958年成为东海公社埭头大队，1961年归城东公社。[3]1984年建立城东乡埭头村委会；2003年2月城东镇改为街道后，村庄改称埭头社区。[3]

地名取自村前原有的一道海埭，因位于海埭堤岸的前端而得名。[2][4]

地理环境[edit]

社区依山傍海，南面的桃花山已建成生态休闲公园和红色旅游基地。[1]

教育与机构[edit]

社区内及周边的学前、小学、中学与老年教育资源较为完备，泉州五中和老年大学即在其中。[1]泉州市移动公司、泉州城建集团和泉州交发集团的总部设在社区内。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年11月，社区受福建省委文明办表彰，被评为「最美志愿服务社区」；2023年8月，社区获2020至2022年度泉州市文明单位称号；2024年4月，社区的邻里中心获评三星级。[1]
