新桥社区位于泉州市中心城区西南部，南面经顺济桥跨晋江与晋江市池店镇相接，2002年由新桥、临溪两个居委会整合而成。[1]社区内的李贽故居为福建省文物保护单位。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

地名由来：德济门外晋江下游建有顺济桥，俗称新桥，居民沿桥周边建屋居住，因而得名。[1]

清代，此地部分属聚津铺，部分属富美境；民国时期归温陵镇富美保。中华人民共和国成立后划归晋江县南区，1952年成为临江街道的新桥街，“文化大革命”期间此街改名红桥街，1980年恢复原名；2002年3月，新桥与临溪居委会整合为新桥社区，驻水巷尾。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

李贽故居位于万寿路123号，是明代思想家李贽青少年时期居住的旧宅，为两进三开间的民房，占地约495平方米，1985年10月列为福建省文物保护单位。[3][2]

社区内的富美宫主祀西汉名臣萧望之，始建于明正德年间（1506年至1521年）。[2][4]

奉督抚两院示禁碑为清代石刻，市级文物保护单位，位于本社区。[1]
